Competa and the Axarquia region:
Competa is an historic pueblo blanco (white village) and is the capital of the Axarquia region – located east of Malaga with some of the best weather conditions in southern Spain, this area is a home to agriculture and has some of the best beaches available within 30mins.
The village of Competa has several plazas but one main square surrounded by bars and restaurants. Many of the restaurants offer a variety of differing cuisines – typically Spanish, Indian, Asian etc. In addition, there are many bars and cafes.
Free Spanish lessons at the town hall if you wish to learn Spanish and there is a foreigner’s department at the town hall (speaking English and other languages).
