Gordon Brown inherited a strong financial position. He then sold gold reserves after telling everybody he was going to do so. .Naturally the price of gold fell heavily. He then changed the tax situation on pensions, precipitating the demise of final salary pensions.(This was against expert advice) To my knowledge he is the only Chanceller to introduce retrospective legislation on tax. ( the SIPP on second homes is one example of him not listening). He was the architect of the demise of the 10p tax and the recent retrospective tax on . For years he schemed against Tony Blair often blocking ideas but not the war on Iraq. Need I go on. He was the most duplicitious chanceller we have ever had and I for one cannot wait to see the back of this control freak.
