      Hi to you all

So much has been written about Spanish banks and banking, much of which is about poor service and sky high charges.

I have noticed that ING the dutch bank now operate in Spain. on the web only(http://www.ingdirect,es),unfortunatly the site is in Spanish only but with my lmited understanding I can make out a bank account paying 4% interest and a mortgage product at 0.33 over eurobar both without commisions.

Is this correct, to good to be true!

I’d take that if I could get it. It’s 5.11% in all, fixed for 3 years. But why is it so cheap? Do the people providing the money expect euribor rates to go down? Or are they simply providing an efficient service to their customers?

It’s sad to be so cynical, Frank. But wise.

      Hi Mike & Frank

Have no reason to doubt that INGs mortgage is not as advertisted, just apply, same as the uk, but no fancy web sites or agents, probably just a credit score and valuation on property needed.

No doubt you all will read your conditions of doing business with ING,bank, before you proceed.

I recall last year they were offering head line rates of interest on deposit accounts. When I probed it was reluctantly revealed to me that the interest rates offered were for three months only.

All of the banks here have fantastic mortgage rates in their windows, but they are always deals for residents or Spanish Nationals. Non-residents are effectively discriminated against
I don’t know about ING though. There are so few branches though, that it would be amazing if they were doing such low margin business

      cheers
