Russian visitors capture already the third place in the ranking of travellers’ influxes to Girona, as for the first time holidaymakers from this country have dwarfed the arrival of Britons and Dutch, revealed the city council. Eastern Europeans fare only behind Spanish and French visitors, state data released by the local cabinet.

Of course this article only refers to tourist numbers. But are Russians starting to buy property too?

I was in Alicante yesterday doing some research. I found out that Russians are 80pc of the foreign market spending €250k and above. That’s incredible.

British buyers are still the biggest group below €100k, and the biggest group overall, but not the biggest group by value. The Russians now spend more on property there than any other nationality bar the Spanish.
