Year on year figures for June released by the INE (Instituto Nacional de Estadistica) show a slight fall of 0.1% in the price of renting in Spain. This is the third consecutive month that has seen a decline in rental prices.
The continued drop in prices comes despite the new legal measures to promote flexibility and development in the rental sector coming into force on June 6th.
The Spanish regions that saw the highest falls were Navarra (-2.2%), Murcia (-1.5%), La Rioja (-1.2%) and the Madrid Region (-1.2%).
There were regions, however, that saw rental prices rise, those in which they rose the most were Melilla (1.2%), Galicia (1.1%), Ceuta (0.9%) and both Catalonia and the Basque Country saw 0.8% increases.
Melilla saw the strongest increases in rental prices
