Imagine my horror when, at the last minute at the notary, I was told IVA on my new garage purrchase was 16% not 7%!
Apparentlty 7% only applies if the garage bought with an apartment. If bought alone it’s 16%! I checked it out with a tax lawyer and after searching through his documents he declared this to be the case.
No one else I know seems to have been caught by this – they all paid 7% regardless of stand alone or with apartment.
Any clarification welcome!
