I am buying a villa that I plan to rent out from time to time. Can anyone tell me if I need a special type of insurance for this? What kind of cover is necessary in Spain? Thanks

It is a good idea to take out a specific civil liability insurance cover if you plan to rent out the property. Typically this insurance will cover you for between 150.000 to 300.000 Euros. This may seem low to anyone who rents property in litigious societies such as the US but it is the norm and is adequate in Spain.

By the way Ian you can now request an insurance quote for rental property at the following page: http://www.spanishpropertyinsight.com/spanish_home_insurance.htm
I have found a broker that can provide this kind of insurance.
