According to a recent headline in Spanish Property Insight (SPI) “Spanish Portal Targets Property Buyers From China”, the huge Spanish property portal Idealista is going to extend their property listings via the largest Chinese property portal, this month (April). Well… this was of great interest to me (as a Lawyer in Spain dealing in Spanish property investments) as I was about to list some property investments on the exact same Chinese portal but already list on Idealista.

So, I contacted Idealista to confirm and immediately received a phone call from them saying that they had only just started talking to the Chinese portal, and if they did decide to extend their listings to China (a big ‘if’ apparently) it wouldn’t happen for several months and they reiterated that wherever I received the news from was incorrect, in any event the negotiations are not in the public domain, and they are always negotiating with other worldwide portals.

This is a huge disappointment for me – not only because I won’t now save the money by not listing in China directly – but as I read (and trust) the news from SPI! In this case however it seems that SPI is either ill informed, which would be a real shame… or they have released news that Idealista want to keep under wraps, which wouldn’t seem to make sense (from a marketing point of view). Whatever the case, it’s doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon! What is really strange is that SPI state they got the news from an Idealista “Press Release”, Idealista this morning say that they haven’t released one!

Very strange, has anyone else heard anything from Idealista?!?!

The news came from a press release which I admit I have not had time to double check. But that’s how this forum helps 🙂
