With all the publicity regarding Demolition, Illegal Builds, Declining Market, etc. why is it that TV progs still insist on saying that property purchase in Spain is a good investment and you can expect an increase of X% p.a.?
OK, so the prog may have been recorded a year ago, but even then the market wasn’t brilliant and there were Court cases underway.
You are not allowed to make false claims on adverts shown on television, so why is it the prog makers can get away with making such statements, when it apparently isn’t correct?
People are influenced by television, so shouldn’t some up to date notice or comment be shown before, during or after the prog, and not hidden away in small text, but highlighted for ALL to see?

I agree MG. Also, I have never ONCE heard the presenters mention the Spanish taxes that would be due on profits made, when re-selling.

      Hi MG

I think in some cases you may find that programmes are made 2-3 yars in advance. I once participated in a prghramme – apparently to be shown onthe BBC, 3 years ago – and it will probably be anothe ryear before it is aired.

Yes, which is why I mentioned – so shouldn’t some up to date notice or comment be shown before, during or after the prog, and not hidden away in small text, but highlighted for ALL to see?
I am surprised that to cover themselves, there isn’t a disclaimer, or is there?

      Jim,
If you thought you would get flack from posting it, why didn’t you just say, ” I’ve just read this on another forum One minute we are talking about fire sales and the next its this load of rubbish.” You are plagiarising.
Or do you get a kick out of being contentious?

The post said it came from Barclays Bank…(which means…take it with a pinch of salt. IMO.)

Come on mg – in all fairness it was showing an opposite view to the ‘declining market’, albeit a total twit’s one (Barclay’s, not Jim’s).
And with all his ‘smilies’ at the end, it was obviously tongue-in-cheek.

In any case, I don’t think there is hardly a member on this forum that has not gone off-topic once in a while.

There was once Katy with her helicopter-spotting 😯 ….but as for Suzanne – has to be the BIGGEST culprit with her ‘River Thames-in-the-rain’ !
Went to bed last night feeling quite nostalgic myself – used to enjoy a nice cool lime-shandy on hot Summer Sunday afternoon’s, sitting outside that lovely riverside pub in Richmond. Can’t remember the name now.
Now that is off-topic and there is even a thread for it….
      Shoot me ❓

Sorry about that ,please forgive silly ole me.
