Taylor Wimpey España and FBD Hotels and Resorts are taking a long-term bet on the popularity of Mijas Costa as destination for golf lovers and second-home buyers.
Taylor Wimpey España – the Spanish arm of British home builder Taylor Wimpey Plc – and the Irish hotel and resort promoter FBD, are reportedly planning to invest €125 million over the next ten years in La Cala Resort (Mijas Costa, Costa del Sol, Malaga, Andalusia), developing more than 600 homes, a four star hotel with sports facilities and spa, and 3 eighteen hole golf courses.
Taylor Wimpey España will target international buyers looking for a second home or retirement home surrounded by golf courses and offering golf, sea, and mountain views just 30 minutes drive from Málaga airport.
Taylor Wimpey and FBD started working together in 2014, and Taylor Wimpey España already have one development underway in La Cala Resort called Horizon Golf, with 48 apartments and 55 townhouses for sale under construction.
Announcing this expansion of their joint venture to develop La Cala Resort, David Kelly, President of FBD said “the continuous development of La Cala Resort demonstrates not only the growing demand for homes in the south of Spain, but also the strenght and attractiveness of our property portfolio. This joint venture with our trusted partner Taylor Wimpey allows us to take advantage of this renewed interest by building the latest generation of modern homes for buyers looking for a second home in one of the most sought after regions in Spain.”
Speaking for Taylor Wimpey, Javier Ballester, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey España, said: “Responding to demand from European buyers we’re delighted to present this new initiative in La Cala Resort, which has become our new gold development on the Costa del Sol.”
