Government of Valencia extends deadline for new urban plans

The government of the Valencian Region, called the Generalitat, has given town halls in the region another 6 months to prepared their urban plans. Urban planners throughout the region have been overwhelmed by an avalanche of planning schemes, many of which involve an element of ‘land grab’, leading to long delays in drafting new urban plans. The biggest bottleneck of all appears to be the Generalitat itself. Chaos and delays in urban planning departments is exacerbating the property market crisis in the region.
