Who owns property on the Costa Brava?
The majority of property owners on the Costa Brava are Catalans from cities like Barcelona and Girona. In the summer months there are many foreigners around, but they are mainly tourists. Foreign owners are a mixed bag: There is a big German presence in the north around Roses, and the area is also popular with Dutch home buyers, who like the hills and the fact that they can get to the Costa Brava in one day’s drive. The British contingency is small but growing, and tends to be more sophisticated and affluent than the Britons who buy further south.
