There are many reasons to rave about Hacienda del Alamo, but the peace and tranquillity of the resort are near the top of my list. Hacienda del Alamo is somewhere you can gaze in silence from your terrace at a spectacular sunrise or sunset, away from all the stress and strain of the modern world. You don’t have to sacrifice any mod cons or creature comforts either, as Hacienda del Alamo is one of the most sophisticated resorts in Spain.
Description of Hacienda del Alamo Golf and Residential Property Resort
Hacienda del Alamo is a stylish golf resort and residential development on a par with the best international resorts. On offer are a variety of different types of residential property available to buyers in a luxury resort setting.
At the heart of the development is an immaculately kept, spacious, 18-hole golf course designed by Dave Thomas. Residential zones, including villas on individual plots, townhouses and apartments, are cleverly integrated with the golf course.
You can feel that Hacienda del Alamo was designed to create the best golf course possible, given the lie of the land, which, incidentally, is ideal for a golf course. The course has been beautifully laid out, and all the properties have been set well back from the greens and fairways, giving the whole development an open, spacious feel.
It also helps that it is a big resort – 550 hectares in total. Only 12% of the land will be built on, so the construction density at Hacienda del Alamo will be one of the lowest in Spain. In practical terms, this means lots of open spaces, green areas, and good views.
Although you can live comfortably at Hacienda del Alamo with the facilities already installed, many of the resort’s star features are still to come. Extraordinary progress has been made since the resort was started, and considering how fabulous it already looks, it’s difficult to believe that the first stone was laid just 5 years ago. Hacienda del Alamo is still at an early stage of its development, which partly explains why buyers in the first phases have seen their properties increase dramatically in value.
So far the first 18-hole golf course is up and running, as are several phases of properties, including villas, townhouses and apartments.
The golf academy is in full swing, as is a small commercial centre at the entrance to the resort.
Planned or under construction are a superb club house for the golf course, a luxurious hotel and spa complex, a traditional Spanish village or ‘pueblo’, a sports centre, and looking further into the future, another 18-hole golf course already designed by Dave Thomas.

The area around Hacienda del Alamo, Murcia
Hacienda del Alamo is located just outside the town of Fuente Alamo, in Murcia’s south east corner.
The surroundings are rural, and in the distance you can see the wild countryside of the Sierras that are a typical feature of Murcia’s attractive landscape. The rural setting - quiet and peaceful, far from traffic jams and crowds - gives the resort a laid-back character. It feels like a great place for enjoying walks in the countryside, reading good books, sleeping well, eating well, and working on your tennis and golf.
Though 20 kilometres inland from the coast, Hacienda del Alamo is at a relatively low altitude of around 500 feet. The winter here is short and sunny by any standards, and the low altitude ensure mild winter temperatures, with an average year-round temperature of 21ºC. 320 days of sunshine a year, and short, mild winters are one of the reason why so many people are moving to the area.
The local town is Fuente Alamo, which is about 5 minutes away by car. It has everything you need such as supermarkets, fresh food markets, banks, pharmacies, doctors surgery, restaurants and shops.
For more serious shopping and culture there are the cities of Murcia and Cartagena, both of which are big enough to have major department stores, and everything else you would expect from a decent sized city, such as good hospitals. Murcia is half an hour away by car, and Cartagena, with it’s buzzing, redeveloped port area is just 25 minutes away.
If it is beaches you want, the closest are at Mazarron, about 25 minutes away, though you also have the option of the beaches of the Mar Menor, half an hour away. Murcia is home to some of Mediterranean Spain’s last remaining undeveloped beaches, between Murcia and Aquilas, so if you are prepared to drive a bit further you can go on day trips to empty, pristine beaches in the summer.
Access to Hacienda del Alamo
- A new motorway is being built that links the main Mediterranean motorway (A-7) at Alhama de Murcia with the Murcia – Cartagena motorway. This new motorway link will have an exit at Fuente Alamo, and will dramatically improve the access of Hacienda del Alamo.
- For international flights to the UK and Ireland, San Javier airport is 35 minutes by car, and Alicante airport is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- A new international airport is under construction at Corvera. This will be just 10 minutes away by car. Corvera will be a privately-run airport, so expect it to be popular with low-cost airlines.
- A fast-train (AVE) link to Madrid is under construction. When finished, it will cut the journey time by train from Murcia City centre to the heart of Madrid to 2 hours.

Hacienda Hills - Detached villas with swimming pools
Hacienda Hills consists of 53 detached villas, on good-sized plots, 14 of which look onto the golf course. There are a variety of designs and styles to choose from, and all villas come with their own pools. The villas are big enough to afford privacy, but are also a convenient size to maintain.
Los Olivos - Luxury spacious apartments with communal gardens and pools
These are going to be luxurious, spacious apartments with stylish, top-of-the-range finishings. Some will have private gardens; others will have terraces and solariums. All have private parking, communal gardens, and pools.
Spanish Village - Apartments and townhouses in a village setting
The idea here is to recreate a traditional Spanish village, with 160 apartments and town houses, and 47 commercial units. This is expected to become the focus of community life at Hacienda del Alamo.
The Oasis – A private community of stylish apartments
The Oasis is a ten hectare development of one, two and three bedroomed homes. Each apartment has its own jacuzzi-pool as well as access to larger communal swimming pools. With its own security entrance and private security system guaranteeing the exclusive use of its facilities for its residents, The Oasis is situated next to the Spanish Village and its wide range of shops, restaurants and bars, and is also a short walk to the golf course and the resort’s main amenities.
