What is the best way to buy a cheap property in Spain? Is it by going to an auction house and making a bid, or by using a traditional estate agent or by using the internet in some way?

I thought that properties that go for sale at an auction are properties in bad condition that can’t sell using an estate agent, is this true? Can one snap up a bargain at an auction? Are there auction houses for properties in Spain (particularly in the costa blanca region) that do the auction in English rather than in spanish?

Would you buy a property at an auction without taking out a survey on the property? Do you think this is risky? Are there any websites showing the properties for sale at auctions houses? Your opinions would be much appreciated, thankyou.

The best way is to spend a lot of time doing research then making your own call. You won’t get anywhere by coming on here, or other forums and asking ‘How do I buy a cheap property?’ If it were that easy you’d have already found the answer online.

You have plenty of time to do the research. All the indications are that the market still has some way to fall.

It’s tiresome… you have to view a lot of properties and then put offers in.

Beware false economies. Go for the very best quality your money can buy.
