As many know a Lawyer Complaints Document is being compiled alongside Our Petition.
I’m eager to hear more from people who have actually reported a lawyer to the Colegio and what response they have had/or not (as is the case with the majority I’ve heard from already).
As this complaint has to be made in Spanish, I fear that many have not got that far, despite their grounds for complaint ❓
Many thanks.
We reported our original law firm to the Collegio de Abogados. The letter was in Spanish. We wrote it and our lawyer was most impressed with it! This said (bad) lawyer was summoned to a meeting with our current lawyer in attendance. Said lawyer did not turn up and the powers that be at the Collegio did nothing, (except perhaps the usual Spanish shrug of the shoulders! ) nor did he when he was summoned to an arbitration meeting by a Marbella Judge. Our lawyer then took the necessary action to sue them. After a preliminary hearing, a date was set for a judgement in December 2008. Outcome.. ❓ We hope to find out soon.
My opinion: It is a complete waste of time reporting lawyers to the Collegio.
I’m not sure if I’ve been misunderstood. I’m not taking anything more before the Colegio. Would just like to hear from others who have done this & what/if anything transpired. My own complaint to the Colegio (2 years ago in Spanish) has not been replied to.
To highlight the gross incompetence/disinterest of the Colegio to the powers that be, we need more evidence, rather than hearsay.

O.K. Roots – but I know we do have the same ultimate goal & really appreciate how hard you are working for this also 🙂
Personally speaking, I feel that writing more letters to Spanish institutions, whoever they are, is wasting precious time – at the moment. These people & their departments have been in place for years, yet the problems get worse. I am sure they know about the abuses & the scandals, even better than we do.
Intervention needs to come from the British Government & the EU – but as I say, that’s only my personal opinion – at the moment.

I agree. I’m convinced that the only solution will be a political one, and the cynic in me believes that its only when EU sanctions are in place and begin to bite that Spain will truly respond and start to get its act together. It will not be a short process.
