The Spanish golfing world is buzzing with the exciting news that the Volvo World Match Play Championships are coming to Spain in autumn 2009. The Finca Cortesín Golf Resort, where Alanda Homes have a stylish, contemporary new development, has been selected as the venue for 2009.
With its fabulous golf course, and unbeatable, sunny climate, Finca Cortesin has managed to prise the Championships away from its ancestral home of Wentworth, near London. The 44-year old Championship is considered to be one of the most prestigious competitions in the golfing world, attracting the top 16 players and household names such as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Michael Campbell and Phil Mickelson.

Relocating the competition to Finca Cortesín, which only opened in 2007, is a great achievement for the Spanish golfing industry. This new urbanisation has always set out to rival the famous Valderrama course in Sotogrande, currently home to the Volvo Masters.
